You’ll want to have a theme if you are building a set of lenses. Always think “sets” when you are putting up lenses.

Build lenses in groups: camping lenses, writing short stories lenses, article writing lenses, etc. Then plan out what you want each lens to deal with.Gather your content prior to starting your lens building for a specific group.

Pick out the main affiliate program, reseller or original product you want to promote in that group. Then pick out a couple (2-3) affiliate programs that compliment your main affiliate program.

Get a different email account for each group of lenses and name it something that will remind you of the lens.

Do your keyword/keyphrase search for your group of lenses and gather about 60-80 keywords/keyword phrases for each one.

Write your long tail phrases into your content as well as add them to your tags on the right hand side.

Add relevant graphics and video if you can. Video is very effective as long as it is not a distraction.

Add an opt-in form and display it prominently. It should be either an image of a form that when clicked takes the visitor to your landing page with a real optin form or a button that does the same thing. If you don’t capture your leads you are missing an opportunity to make potential additional sales.

Add a links section to your lens. This will contain the links to your recommended products including links to your landing page for a free, incentivized product in exchange for the visitor’s name and email.

You can add as many modules as you wish but keep things as simple and relevant as you can.

Publish your lens and keep adding to it.

You will want to update and add articles, reviews, chat posts, anything you want.

But keep it relevant to your topic and keywords at all times.

Write a summary of one of your articles on your site and link to that article.

Write some information about an ebook you’ve written or promote and link from Squidoo to your main site.

Make sure that your main site has an opt-in form prominently displayed (above the fold).

After you have everything that you need, start posting to your lenses. Do not publish them all at once and do not publish all of your content at one time. If you do this, you will have nothing to add over time. In the first couple of days after you’ve published a lens, you will want to push up fresh content to keep people interested. After that you’ll want to update it about once a week.

There are seasonal search terms, searches on popular figures and everything that is breaking news globally. People who died, movie stars, politicians, oddities and the like – any thing that is searched for is quantified in Google trends.

What does this mean for a Squidoo affiliate marketer?

You are essentially looking at a potential goldmine, delivered on an hourly basis. You know what people are looking for not days after they’ve searched for something, but hours afterwards. This opens up some really incredible possibilities. If you found, for instance, that there was a hot trend for Elvis memorabilia, in particular an Elvis poster or T-shirt, you could set up a Squidoo lens in under 30 minutes and offer an affiliate product that fit that trend. Squidoo is indexed at lightening speeds and your search engine ranking on various low competition keywords would get you near the top of the Google search results. A successful affiliate marketer puts themselves in the path of oncoming traffic.

Google Hot Trends are seasonal, news-driven and fad popular

Knowing that people usually “Google” what they’re already interested in, just heard about or are excited about, you can offer them what they’re looking for quickly and easily just by following Google Trends. On average, it takes about 30 minutes to write enough content to put up a decent Squidoo lens and the products are available both through Squidoo’s setup and through the myriad of affiliate programs and networks out there.

The possibilities are staggering. Even if every affiliate marketer tried to keep up with Google Trends, there would be more than enough room to make everybody involved wealthy. Google Trends upgrades every hour on the hour with new trends, new keywords and keyword phrases. It’s just a matter of being there, building lenses and inserting relevant and useful affiliate products. It used to be you had to guess at what people were thinking. Now, with the introduction of this new technology, you’ve just got to follow the trends at www.google.com/trends. It’s just that easy.

There are two types of landing pages, reference and transactional.

Reference Landing Pages

A reference landing page presents relevant information to the visitor. Reference landing pages can display text, images, dynamic compilations of relevant links, or other elements. They are effective if they meet the objectives of their publishers, which may be associations, organizations or public service entities. For many reference landing pages, effectiveness can be measured by the revenue value of the advertising that is displayed on them.

Transactional Landing Pages

Used by most affiliate marketers, a transactional landing page is designed to persuade a visitor to complete a transaction which is usually filling out a form or interacting with advertisements or other objects on the landing page to buy a product offering. Transactional landing pages designed for list building are often referred to as Squeeze pages which are designed to get a person to sign up for a newsletter or free information. Usually there is some sort of incentive offered like a free report or newsletter on the niche topic.

Both types of landing pages face the same type of trouble – getting traffic or website visitors to see the page and perform an action. That’s where Squidoo comes in and works wonderfully. Because a Squidoo lens is a pre-selling, targeted traffic funnel, the visitors who arrive at the landing page are usually pre-qualified and more than likely to sign up or perform the action suggested. In essence, post Squidoo traffic is warm traffic versus cold visitors who arrive at your page with little to no idea why they’ve come there.

Squidoo weeds out the tire kickers, those who are just surfing on interest. Usually people who click on Squidoo lens links are already interested in the product or service so that when they arrive at the landing page, they are predisposed to sign up or click through to a sale. For this reason, Squidoo lenses have been called one of the affiliate marketers’ best tools for targeted, traffic generation.

• Add links to a few sites, blogs, articles, research, and likeminded thinkers that support your point.
• Oh, and what’s the best word or short phrase to describe the heart of the topic you’re debating? (Example: “Mitt Romney” or “Evolution” or “New York Giants” or “MacAir”)

Lastly, click ‘build my fight page, MonkeyBrain!’

After you are done and finished editing the different modules, here is what your page will look like when you click publish.

In the next few pages, you will see how each one looks and where you can go to select the template. Squidoo has again made them very simple to use with a wizard to help you build the lens after asking a few related questions.

After you have answered the questions, you then have to click magic build
to see how your answers look. Don’t worry too much if it’s not perfect right now, as you will be able to edit anything on the final page at any point. The main thing you have to do is click the link on the right ‘I want it’ then select a URL, in the same way you selected a Squidoo.com/MyURL. The URL is the only thing you are unable to change once you are done.

First, you need to get good keywords. It takes time to develop a site from content, and though PLR speeds that
process considerably, any production of content or products that you
undertake will most likely not be simply ‘overnight’.

Most websites usually start showing profit after around a month in
Adsense, sometimes less; sometimes more – but that profit will almost
always be tiny. It takes time to build up a passive income so set yourself a
target and stick with it.

There are many programs out there, including the $5 a day scheme – which
basically says you set up one stream of income that gives you $5 or so
back a day. The mistake most people make is they expect to make that
straight away – if you set a goal of having a site that makes $5 a day after
60 days – and set one or two of those sites up a week, it’ll soon add up, and
it won’t leave you so stretched out that you can’t pay attention to those
sites.

Whether you’re running your site from a blog, or through simple html,
site maintenance soon starts to eat into your time – whether it’s just adding
a fresh set of articles once every few months, or tweaking the ads, the metatags, the descriptions or something else, you’ll always find there’s
something you need to do to make your site better. Eventually it’ll get to
the point where all it needs is freshening – it’ll be refined far enough that
you only need to add articles – but that takes time.

Paid membership sites are most usually limited to a specific number of
members. This means that marketing is limited to that specific number. Limiting marketing possibilities is never a positive thing no mater what products or services are being promoted.

Of course, there are obvious reasons for limiting paid membership site
memberships but the fact remains that a free membership site can be operated right along side a paid membership site and there is never any reason at all to limit the memberships available to a free site.

Three to six months is about the duration of a paid membership to most
membership sites according to many paid membership site owners. Three to six months isn’t very long in terms of Internet marketing. Once a paid member drops his membership, the site owner must then replace him and that can get expensive.

On the other hand, membership cancellations at free membership sites are
easily and cheaply replaced. Marketing to the members of a free membership
website is absolutely unlimited. You can continue to market to free membership site members for as long as you want to. Free membership sites are easy to run and they cost almost nothing and yet the owner is supplied with an almost unlimited number of customers and potential customers to market all kinds of products and services to.

Let’s face it: Every Internet marketer must now have an opt-in mailing list
in order to send bulk marketing emails. That’s the law that went into effect
with the passage and implementation of the CAN SPAM act. There is nothing
anybody can do about it. If you send bulk marketing emails without the express consent of the recipients, you are subject to very heavy fines and the very real possibility of having your Internet business closed down altogether.

So… why limit your mailing list to just a paid membership site? Why not
build a free membership site and gain an unlimited number of names and email addresses to which you have the legal right to send marketing emails? There simply is not satisfactory reason for NOT having a free membership site…at least not one that I can see.
