The Making of A Good Ad For Your Website
Filed Under (Marketing Tips) by W.B.P.S. Marketing Tips on 27-05-2007
Picking an effective ad for your website can make or break your bank account.
That’s because if you have ads that don’t attract the right number of clickthrough rates or don’t convert to sales (if you’re getting paid per sale), then you’re missing out on a massive amount of possible income you could attract with the right ads.
For that reason, you are going to learn what makes a successful ad for your website. You may be surprised to learn that only a small change in an ad can make a huge difference in response.
Below are the 5 factors that you should look for when picking out ads to display on your site. Keep in mind that if you already have one type of advertising right now, then you may want to consider another form to go along with it.
1. The ad should produce enough clickthrough rates to take full advantage of your website traffic.
In the previous lesson, we talked about intrusive ads vs. non-intrusive ones… and we also said that intrusive ones will increase your clickthrough rates most of the time… because they force your website visitors’ attention.
This is true… BUT, there is a catch. Capturing your website visitors’ attention means absolutely nothing if you don’t get them to click on the ad…and get sales after a click has taken place (if you’re getting paid per sale).
This means an effective ad speaks to the customer and gives him the clear benefit as to what lies ahead. Let’s talk more about this…
2. The ad targets the right user.
An effective ad will not speak to everyone, but only to the most qualified isitor. It tells him or her, this is a product for somebody like YOU. If your d tries to appeal to everyone, then the right person won’t know that this s a product for him or her.
3. Presells the customer to buy the product.
By attracting the right type of customer, you have already pre-sold the product… because, as the visitor hits the web page, he or she already knows, “This is something for me.†But, an additional way to presell your visitors are to give your customers a little taste of what it’s like to own your product.
A mistake with ads is to use only images. Typically, the more benefits and qualifications (tells the visitors the product is right for them) filled banner or ad is, the better the response will be… in clickthrough rates and final sales.
4. It can utilize prime advertising space.
As you may already know, different areas of your web page will produce different responses. Everyone is different, and each market has its own quirks, but, generally, there are common areas which are the best place for your ads are.
When placing your ads, you should also consider that some areas might generate a higher clickthrough rate than others, but its conversion go down.
This is more evident on the search engines, like Google, where the top places will produce the most clickthrough rates, but then they often produce fewer sales than a slightly lower position.
On your webpage, the highest clickthrough rates will typically be higher up on the page starting with the center, then move right, left, and downwards.
You should test what works best for your individual layout and your customers.
5. Converts well into sales.
This is the most important aspect to selecting your ads. If you can get a good converting program, then you can significantly improve your profits…
